Our Cabin Story

Back in 2011, my wife Shelley and I bought our first bunch of little cabins. Meant as a private family retreat, they soon became the talk of the town. Growing demand for guest stays made it clear that we needed to rethink our plans.

We began with four small cabins. One was retrofit with a Jacuzzi tub for two. (Cabin 3 at Cross Timbers if you're interested) A couple others were designed to sleep four in a studio type set up with small kitchenettes. The final one was converted into a 2 bedroom cabin with a full kitchen.

Later in the year, we purchased the property immediately next door which gave us a larger 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin with a full kitchen that can easily sleep up to ten unless you bring air mattresses and sleeping bags. I believe the actual record is 23 when a big family brought along tents for the back yard!

All of the Cross Timbers Cabins have been beautifully renovated to take advantage of the unique cedar styling so prevalent here decades ago. However we have added a smooth and sleek twist on our cedar woodwork by using live edge and slab materials polished to a high gloss finish. We haven't found anything like it anywhere and our guests love it.

The need for a swimming pool in 2012 brought us to our next group of cabins. We began by referring to them as the "Fishing Cabins" as they had a more dated "fishing resort" appearance and feel to them. What they did have was a big, gorgeous pool. I like to tell people that we bought a pool and got a house and seven cabins in the deal! The fishing cabins served their purpose fairly well for a couple of years but due to developments in early 2016, a new plan had begun to take shape. (More on that later) We are planning a transformation to our fishing cabins beginning some time in 2017. With the Jacuzzi cabin at Cross Timbers being as popular as it is. We plan to add additional romantic style, couples cabins to that property. Some of the original cabins will need torn down, others are good enough to withstand a major renovation. We are looking forward to the exciting changes to come.

In 2013, we set our sights on one of the most unique adventures we've ever tackled. Beginning in October, we worked for nine months to put together the camp and resort property we call Branson Treehouse Adventures. Yes, that's Treehouses! In June of 2014 we began transforming a 79 site RV park into a treehouse resort. We are keeping most of the RV Park intact, but are building treehouse cabins around the perimeter. Our treehouse cabins are "over the top" as far as unique. They have kitchens, bathrooms, Jacuzzi tubs, some with fireplaces and outdoor showers (for the truly adventuresome) The most popular feature so far is what we call a "coffee deck". This is a deck built in a tree connected to the treehouse deck by a swinging cable bridge. Our cabin journals confirm that the coffee decks are the most popular features at the treehouses.

Back to the Spring of 2016, an opportunity came along to purchase one of the most notable resort properties in the Rockaway Beach market. The Rainbow Haven Resort became our 3rd resort property and added another pool, 7 more lodging units and more importantly a marina with lake access. Rainbow Haven adds more than just lodging and activities. It also included a full time office and staff to function as a customer service component to the Rockaway Beach Cabins and resorts.  The combination of Cross Timbers Cabins, the future Black Bear Cabins and Rainbow Haven Resort creates a unique blend of lodging opportunities and activities to appeal to just about every taste.
When you get ready to experience the Cabin Life, Camp Life or Resort Life, make sure to get in touch, we have something that will be certain to create lifelong memories.
